'Deaths from lightning up 87% in recent years'

A study by Fakir Mohan University revealed a significant increase in lightning-related deaths in India from 2010 to 2020, linked to climate change and extreme weather. Data from the National Crime Records Bureau showed 1,01,309 deaths between 1967 and 2020. Central India accounted for half of these fatalities, highlighting the growing trend of climate-induced extreme events.
