Mukhtar Ansari found unconscious in jail; kin alleges 'slow poisoning'

Jailed gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari was rushed to Banda medical college on Tuesday morning after he was discovered unconscious near the prison toilet. Ansari has been incarcerated in UP and Punjab since 2005, with over 60 criminal cases pending against him. His brother and Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari, on arriving at the hospital, alleged that his brother was being poisoned in jail. Afzal told reporters in the morning that Ansari was in the ICU and was conscious.
