Congress alleges govt pressure, lack of transparency in EC

Expressing astonishment over the sudden resignation of election commissioner Arun Goel just before the Lok Sabha elections announcement, the Congress party accused the government of exerting pressure and criticized the lack of transparency within the election watchdog. The Congress demanded that the Centre provide an explanation for the situation. The party also highlighted the alleged "relentless harassment" faced by the then election commissioner, Ashok Lavasa, from the Modi government after he expressed dissent over giving PM Modi a clean chit.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
