‘Deepfakes to make biometrics unreliable’

Research advisory firm Gartner predicts that by 2026, due to the proliferation of attacks utilizing AI-generated deepfakes on face biometrics, 30% of enterprises will no longer view such identity verification and authentication solutions as dependable when used in isolation. The proliferation of deepfakes has emerged as a big menace. Identity verification and authentication processes using face biometrics today rely on presentation attack detection (PAD) to assess the user’s liveness.
