Cancer patient with months to live drops 'risky' abortion plan

A 33-year-old cancer patient with metastatic gallbladder carcinoma decided not to proceed with her plea for medical termination of her 28-week pregnancy after a Bombay HC panel deemed it highly risky. The woman's husband accepted the medical committee's opinion that the procedure posed a high risk due to the terminal stage of her disease. The Bombay High Court had been approached by the couple to allow the termination of the pregnancy, citing the poor prognosis of both the mother and fetus.
