Uttarkashi: Tunnel drilling work halts after obstruction

The rescue team using a high-performance American auger drilling machine to save workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarkashi encountered a roadblock when the machine encountered an obstruction. In addition, a team of experts from Delhi arrived at the site to conduct a geophysical survey using ground penetrating radar and seismic reflection methods. The Uttarkashi district administration also disclosed that there were 41 trapped workers, not 40 as previously thought.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
