Smoke house Delhi gasps on 7th 'severe' air day

Delhi experienced its seventh 'severe' air day this month as the Air Quality Index (AQI) rose to 401. The city has also had five 'very poor' air days this month. Stubble burning in Punjab has exceeded 30,000 incidents this season, with 2,544 fires reported in a single day. Satellites detected farm fires in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as well. However, as wind direction changes, the contribution of biomass burning in Delhi's PM2.5 is predicted to decrease.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
