Quota activist ends fast, sets Jan 2 deadline for Maha govt

Quota activist Manoj Jarange has ended his nine-day hunger strike, but has warned of a larger protest if the government does not take action on providing reservation to the Maratha community by January 2. The government has agreed to provide Kunbi (OBC) caste certificates to Marathas with Kunbi antecedents from across the state, not just in Marathwada region. The state government is relieved by Jarange's decision and a delegation, including ministers and legal experts, persuaded him to end his strike.
