Deepfakes can create crisis in diverse society like ours: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern about the dangers of 'deepfakes', calling for artificial intelligence (AI) developers to tag their products to caution against AI-enabled deception. He highlighted the issue of deepfake videos, including one of himself participating in a garba dance during Navratri festivities. Deepfakes involve superimposing a person's face or body onto someone else's, making it appear authentic. The proliferation of deepfakes on social media has prompted the Indian government to issue guidelines for their identification and removal.
