Allahabad HC: UP curbs only on transporting cattle, not on carrying beef

Allahabad HC has said that there is no restriction on transportation of beef from any place outside Uttar Pradesh to any location within the state as per the UP Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955. The court said in a judgment earlier this week that the restriction under the Act is only in respect of transportation of cows, bulls and bullocks. Ordering the DM to release the seized mobile, the HC said that the confiscation was made “on a misreading of section 5A(7) of the Cow Slaughter Act”.
