Three drown as onlookers film it, cry 'save them'

Three picnickers drowned at a waterbody in Dewas district as bystanders watched and filmed the incident. One of the bystanders tried to save them but broke away after getting dragged down in a bid to cling on to life. They were later identified as Yasin, Sufiyan and Zafar--all from Indore. The group had driven to Bhairav Kund, 45km from Indore, on Tuesday when one of them started to drown. Two others swam to rescue him but also drowned in the process. Authorities were alerted two hours after the incident.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that apprehending armed militants qualifies as an "encounter" for reservation benefits for police personnel's children.
