Why airlines keep folding in India’s booming aviation market

Go Airlines India Ltd has become the latest Indian airline to fail, citing Pratt & Whitney's failure to supply replacement engines and parts as the reason for ceasing operations. Indian aviation has been booming, with Indian airlines commanding billions of dollars in orders in recent years to create the world's largest aviation market. However, high taxes on fuel, strong competition and regulatory challenges meant that even before the pandemic, airlines were fighting for survival.
