Sharp Covid surge this week; daily cases top 3k, now doubling

Just a day after hitting the 2,000-mark, India recorded over 3,000 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday as infections started surging at a faster rate. By Wednesday, the seven-day average of daily cases had nearly doubled in seven days as opposed to eight over the previous few days.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
