After Joshimath, NGT to study ‘capacity-stretched’ Mussoorie

Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports that the Joshimath land subsidence was a warning for hill towns like Mussoorie which are operating much beyond their carrying capacity, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has now constituted a nine-member committee headed by the Uttarakhand chief secretary to conduct a comprehensive study on the ‘Queen of Hills’.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
