FM seeks LIC report on loan recovery notices to orphan

Support continues to pour in for the Bhopal schoolgirl, a Covid orphan who is battling recovery notices for the home loan her father had taken. In a big boost to her fight for relief, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken note of her struggle and asked LIC for a status report. But LIC officials have promised the girl only an eight-month reprieve from the notices.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that apprehending armed militants qualifies as an "encounter" for reservation benefits for police personnel's children.
