Assam floods toll reaches 88, more NDRF teams rushed

Assam reported seven more deaths, which include three children, in floods on Tuesday, taking the toll in both deluge and landslides to 88 as the situation remained critical for a week now. Monsoon activity over the state has weakened but most of the major rivers in the two valleys — Brahmaputra and Barak — remained in spate, resulting in spread of floodwaters to new areas.
