Vyapam@6: How CBI picked 300 suspects pictures from pile of 18 lakh

Six years, 155 cases, 45 ‘mysterious death’ probes, 3,500 people chargesheeted… The numbers seem mindboggling for any single investigation, but if there’s one thing that stands out for CBI during its long and often thorny Vyapam journey, it’s how the officers identified around 300 suspects from a lineup of 18 lakh photographs, without the advantage of getting to talk to any of them.

HC: Treat arrest, even without exchange of fire, as encounter
